DESCRIPTION:Week Without Driving runs October 1–8. Today is day 2\, and it is not too late to try a trip\, a half day\, or the rest of the week. \n\n\n\nBackground: about a third of people in the U.S. don’t drive — because of age\, disability\, or the cost of a car. Most places are still built as if everyone does. The challenge\, started in 2021 by disability advocate Anna Zivarts\, asks people who can drive to get around by bus\, bike\, walking\, or asking for a ride\, so they see those gaps firsthand: missing sidewalks\, infrequent buses\, places you can’t reach without a car. Stay for the full hour or just 15 minutes for the static observation—your input will help shape our recommendations to city officials.
