This month’s agenda highlights:
** Strong Des Moines members (and Des Moines itself) are making waves within our National Organization – Strong Towns! Come and learn about how our city has made appearances and mentions in recent podcasts, YouTube videos and also how local Strong Des Moines members have been interacting with Strong Town recently. Interesting times!
** Des Moines City Financials/Budget Crunch – Don’t sleep on this one, it will be interesting! Learn about advocacy efforts employed recently by some of our members including speaking at recent city council meeting. We will also walk through the online city budget calculator which city leaders have asked citizens (and interested parties) to complete and submit feedback on suggestion cuts as well as new revenue opportunities. WE HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU COMPLETE THIS (or at least play with it) PRIOR TO OUR MEETING! https://www.dsm.city/news_detail_T21_R610.php

With no sidewalks, heavy traffic, and limited access to nearby bus stops on Merle Hay Road, this corridor poses real challenges for neighbors walking or rolling. We will gather for a quick brief on the corridor’s history, observe traffic conditions, and […]
